Spring Break Day Camp – “Who Am I and Where Am I Going?!”

Plans are in progress for the 2010 Spring Break 4-H Day Camp!  Warren County will be partnering with Vance County 4-H for this program, which will be held Monday, March 29 – Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 8:30-4:30 each day.  The focus of this week will be preparing youth for their futures in education, employment, and personal development.  Registration cost will be $20 and the program is open to youth ages 9-15.  Additional information/registration will be publicized in February.

Summer 4-H Camp!

Camp is an awesome fun and educational experience for youth ages 8-14!  This year we will be camping at the Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Center the week of June 27-July 2, 2010.  The cost for camp this year will be $325. To guarantee your child(ren) a spot at camp this year you must pay a non-refundable deposit of $75 per child by Friday, January 29, 2010.  If we do not have deposits at this time, we will have to release the majority of our camp spots so that we do not have to pay the full camp fee for slots that are not filled.  Additional information about camp payment plans will follow in for those who register.

Attention Teens – ARIE Program Information

The North Carolina 4-H ARIE program is designed for teens to get experience that will help them immensely in their future endeavors for college, scholarships, and the workplace.  The program consists of four parts; Application, Resume, Interview, and Essay.  I will be doing a training for anyone interested in this program on March 9 from 6-8 p.m. at the Extension Office.  The deadline for submission of ARIE portfolios to the 4-H Office is May 10th.

4-H Lifetime Achievement Awards Gala

This fun and exciting event will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Sheraton Imperial in Raleigh.  The 4-H Development fund will be looking for youth volunteers to attend the event and showcase their work in 4-H.  I will be meeting with Development Fund staff at the beginning of February to get more details about this event and will pass that along when I have it.  If you are interested in finding out more information about the Gala as soon as it is available, please contact me to let me know.

Summer Programming Ideas

The summer will be here before we know it and this year I want to get really creative with our Day Camp opportunities.  If anyone has suggestions about programs they would like to see me organize, or that they would like to volunteer to plan/teach, then please let me know!  I’m always open to new ideas and since you work directly with the youth in your clubs/communities I would love to hear what you think.
