Backyard Farmers Workshop

— Written By

This fall, the Warren County Extension Center is offering a series of seminars for “Backyard Farmers”. Participants will learn about the many options for those with limited acreage, including fruit trees, vegetables, and small livestock (goats and poultry). The instructors will also cover soil preparation and fertility, which is the foundation to successful farming on any scale. Whether you have a single acre or twenty-five, you will learn about how to make the most of your property. Instructors include Kelsey Lichtenwalner, Livestock Extension Agent, and Paul McKenzie, Horticulture Extension Agent. The classes will be held at the Warren County Extension Center, 158 Rafters Lane in Warrenton on Tuesday evenings, from 6:30 to 8:30, beginning September 30th. At the final class on November 4th, the instructors will review marketing options to sell what you raise. Tuition of $20 covers all six classes, and seating is limited so register soon!
