trash lake james clean up 2021

Thank you to the 50+ volunteers who removed over 1,200 lbs of Trash from Lake James. On Saturday May 1, volunteers from across McDowell County cleaned the shores of Lake James and removed litter, broken fishing poles, abandoned watercraft, and lost shoes from the lake. McDowell County provided dumpsters at Black Bear and Hidden Cove boat launches. Special Thanks to Lake James State Park and the Lake James Environmental Association for hosting the dumpster at Hidden Cove. Thank you to the residents of The Arbor of Lake James for their coordinated effort to remove trash from the coves. Thank you to the moose lodge #1705 for your continued support promoting the event to your volunteers. We appreciate everyone’s effort to Keep McDowell Beautiful.
