2014 All-American Quarter Horse Congress Results

Quarter Horse Congress Hippology Results

The 2014 NC 4-H Hippology team was coached by Wake County 4-H Leader, Beth Morgan. Beth is a NC 4-H Horse Program alumnae who competed at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Round Up as a youth. The team was comprised of Anna Ahlers from Wake County, Laura Dickerson from Chatham County, Micah Furr from Rowan County and Allie Pickard from Alamance County. The girls had an outstanding contest at the Quarter Horse Congress, and defeated  17 other teams to take home the top prize. A total of 9 individual awards were won in addition to 5 team awards, including a high overall individual win by Anna Ahlers.

Horsebowl

North Carolina’s 2014 Horsebowl team was made up of Alamance County 4-H’ers Rachel Rezin and Alexandria Knudson, Wake County 4-H’er Hannah Sather and Johnston County 4-H’er Tori Gwaltney.
4-H Horse Program Alumnae and former Congress, Eastern National and AQHYA World Champion, Lindsay Riddell served as this year’s coach. Lindsay is a leader from Alamance County. The Horsebowl team went undefeated in all rounds at the Quarter Horse Congress and came home with the Congress trophy.

North Carolina sent two individuals and one team in the presentation categories at the Quarter Horse Congress. Polk County 4-H’er Bradley Kay’s individual presentation on Poisonous Plants wowed the judges, with a near perfect score of 199, to capture first place honors. Katriana VonWindheim, from Wake County, won fourth place with her presentation that detailed her 9 month battle to treat her mare’s proud flesh wound. In the team presentation contest, Chatham County 4-H’ers Julie Dickerson and Kirsten Gregory were awarded second place for their sophisticated presentation on equine heart disorders.

The North Carolina 4-H Horse Judging team started out the fall season by sending a 3 person team to the Quarter Horse Congress Judging Contest. Johnston County 4-H’ers Megan Downs and Taylor Knittel and Chatham County 4-H’er Maddie Edwards came away with a 6th place team award in halter, and also place 5th as a team in performance, reasons and overall. Taylor also captured 3 individual awards.
